For years, I’ve been hearing of the 9-11 conspiracies, and never gave it any credibility whatsoever, although I did always wonder about Building 7; that collapse always seemed bizarre.
But recently, a podcaster mentioned this documentary “9-11 Mysteries,” so I got curious and searched for it, and found it, and watched it. By the way, I worked in WTC 1 at the time, but fortunately arrived 10 minutes late that day.
I believe the documentary was produced in 2006. I found it was not all that conspiratorial: it presented evidence very rationally, using many interviews taken real time on that infamous day, plus analyzing a great deal of video of the towers, especially the collapse of each building.
I now believe it’s pretty clear that the collapse of the buildings was NOT from the airliners.
In a way, the official story of the cause of towers collapsing (extreme heat weakening the steel) reminds me of the Kennedy assassination: the back of JFK’s head being blown out did not come from a shot from behind. That’s impossible; it defies the laws of physics. And it is impossible that those buildings came down due to the fires in those upper floors.
I dare any doubter to watch this. I watched it twice! By the way, the producer is also the narrator, and she’s really great. This documentary is just so well done.

Sorry, but I left 9/11 itself off for a reason. I’m a structural engineer and believe me, I very carefully looked at everything to do with the collapse of the towers. Ever since 2001, I read everything I could find (including detailed engineering studies) about what happened to the structures. I participated in long debates with 9/11 Truthers on several platforms (including JREF) about it … and I can assure you the towers fell because impacting airplanes or (in the case of WTC 7, impacting debris) cause massive fires, which steel building like them were simply not designed to survive.
The fires caused steel members to soften and eventually buckle, then the towers fell exactly as any competent structural analysis would expect. And believe me, there were plenty of analyses by competent engineers to prove this. NIST conducted investigations and studies for years after 9/11. And investigations continued at dozens of universities for years after that. And not one of them concluded the Towers fell for any reason other than an aircraft impact causing fires and buckling. So take whatever is said in this *documentary* you link with a HUGE grain of salt. I’ve seen documentary after documentary put out by 911 Truthers that have been nothing but garbage and I doubt this is any different.
I can’t count the number of false, misleading, and downright insane statements made by 9/11 Truthers about the event over the years. For example, they claimed over and over that the WTC 1 and WTC2 towers fell at “free fall” speed … which would have taken about 9 seconds. But that’s an outright lie because videos of the event proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it took 14-15 seconds for those towers to collapse. Yet even after this was pointed out, over and over, they continued to claim it. I wonder what 911 Mystery claims? And they made the same claim about WTC 7 … that it fell at *impossible* free fall speeds. But videos prove that the north face of the building depended 18 stories in 5.4 seconds, 40 percent longer than it would have taken under free fall conditions.
They also claimed it was “impossible” for the towers to collapse vertically as they did. But that’s exactly what would happen if fires way up in the towers caused a story or two of the towers to buckle, dropping the mass above them onto the floors below, dooming the building. The various videos of WTC 1 and 2 that were taken that day prove that’s exactly what happened. Also, various large scale structural analyses that were preformed showed that would happen. Common sense even tells you it would happen. That huge mass above the collapse zone, falling even one floor on to the floor below, was guaranteed to create dynamic impact loads so large they’d fail the structure in the next floor and thus progressively collapse the tower in a vertical direction. Not collapse at free fall speed, however, because there was some resistance from the structure below … a pancake collapse. Likewise, the structural analysis that NIST made of WTC7 showed buckling of the structure occurring and once it occurred, the structure essentially becomes open space with little resistance to slow the descent of the floors above. Again, there was nothing mysterious about this.
Unfortunately, most of the many websites and links that were used to debunk the 9-11 Truther nonsense are gone. I often linked them in discussions about this but they’re no longer available because the sane people who put them up moved on with their lives. But the 9/11 Truthers are still stuck on this and will be forever … that’s one characteristic of them, along with a host of others which I could list if you like.
Now, mind you, I’m not saying that 9/11 itself wasn’t a false flag operation. It’s very curious how the FBI and US government tried to debunk the idea that the hijackers were involved in the anthrax plot when they clearly were. It’s very curious how fast the government had a list of the 9/11 hijackers, and the name Bin Laden to blame. It’s almost like they knew it was going to happen and decided to take advantage of it. But the idea that bombs were planted in the buildings to bring them down is sheer nonsense. The evidence simply doesn’t support that hypothesis.

Now in the above link, David Chandler links a paper he wrote (http://journalof911studies.com/volume/2010/ChandlerDownwardAccelerationOfWTC1.pdf ) that he complains was rejected by two journals before it was published by … well, let’s be honest … a journal that was specifically established by 911 Truthers to give their nonsense some *credibility*. Let’s take a look at that paper, subtitled “Downward Acceleration of WTC 1”. Note that Chandler has a BS in physics and an MS in mathematics. He taught high school physics, math and astronomy. So he’s neither an engineer or an architect. And he’s certainly not a structural engineer.
That’s evident in the paper he wrote. After an exceedingly simplistic analysis, which may fool the uninitiated, he states that “It is difficult to imagine how an upper block (BAC – referring to the structure above the collapsing level) exerting a force of only 36% of its static weight (BAC – and there’s the problem) could crush the larger, stronger, undamaged lower section of the building to the ground, when the building, at any level, was designed to support several times the weight above it. That statement alone shows no understanding of the dynamic effects of impact (or buckling for that matter) on a structure. It’s obviously the reason his paper was immediately rejected by real scientific journals … why he essentially had to self publish it and claim “peer review” by fellow 911 Truthers. He ignored effects that are something that real structural engineers … like all those who actually did perform detailed dynamic analyses of what happened to the towers … understood. And curiously, not a one of the real experts ended up a 911 Truther. Wonder why? I suppose he thinks they were all part of the conspiracy … bought off or threatened … roll eyes.

I note that the remnants of the massive steel core columns that were still vertical at the base of the towers had to be cut down so they could be trucked away. The cuts were often made at an angle. There used to be many pictures of workers making these cuts on the web but, like I said, much of that is no longer available.

Sorry, but the towers did not explode into dust. The steel wasn’t vaporized. The debris was exactly what one would expect if a steel framed tower collapsed in the manner I described above.
