Publisher's summary

You live with her. You trust her. But you don’t know her....

Wanted: full-time, live-in help for expectant mother. Must be organized, friendly, and willing to do anything.

Rachel is determined to be the perfect mother. She has a birth plan, with a playlist and a bag ready by the door. She’s chosen a lovely light cream paint for the nursery, and in wide-eyed, innocent Abbie she’s found the perfect person to help her with her baby.

Because every mother needs a bit of help, don’t they?

But Rachel needs a little more than most.

She still makes sure her bedroom door is locked before she goes to sleep. She still checks the cameras that are dotted throughout the house.

Rachel trusts Abbie.

She just knows better than to trust herself....

From the best-selling author of Her Husband’s Lover, this is a truly gripping story about how far people will go to find a family. Filled with tension and twists, it is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Shari LaPena, and The Girl on the Train.

Pass it up; you’ll miss nothing.

If it wasn’t for the excellent performance of the narrator this book would have been 2 stars easily. The characters are very unlikeable and the ways their lives intertwine over time is unbelievable and silly at best. I tend to enjoy the housemaid/hired help mysteries so I give it a little leeway, but if it weren’t for that I wouldn’t have even finished it. I found myself zoning out a lot and not worrying when I zoned back in that I missed anything. Usually I’ll go back. I just let the story keep going and it was background noise I mostly listened to rather than entertainment.

#dontbuythisbook

Fun drinking game. Every time the narrator says hashtag, take a shot. Take 1/4 of a shot. You’ll be wasted by the end of chapter one. The narrator stunk and so did the words they were reading. I made it through chapter 3 and I couldn’t take it any longer. Awful. Don’t waste your credit.

Return

This book is horrible. The characters are unlivable and the narration is hard to understand. Pass it up!
