US comic David A. Arnold dies at 54

Stand-up and writer had two Netflix specials

American comedian David A. Arnold has died at the age of 54, his family has announced.

He was three dates into his latest stand-up tour when he died at home.

The family statement said: ‘Doctors have ruled the cause of death due to natural causes. Please keep our family in prayer and respect our privacy at this time, as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.’

The stand-up just released his second Netflix comedy special,  It Ain't For The Weak. His first, Fat Ballerina, landed in 2020.

He was also a writer and producer for the Netflix sitcom revival Fuller House, having started his stand-up career in 1997.

Fellow Fuller House writer Bryan Behar said he was ‘devastated’ to hear the news, paying tribute to ‘one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen & an all-around wonderful man’. ‘David was finally experiencing the fruits of decades of work,’ he added.

Arnold leaves behind his wife Julie Harkness and two teenage daughters.
