According to a survey conducted by IDC on the most trusted vendors for US Smart City transformation, Microsoft was ranked the most trusted vendor. IDC asked the following two questions as part of their survey.

  • Do you expect the following technology suppliers will enable the digital transformation that will help create smart cities?
  • What is the overall customer satisfaction with the offerings of technology suppliers?

Microsoft was the top scored vendor in both questions. As per IDC report, Microsoft’s satisfied installed base coupled with its extensive work on building cloud capabilities, analytics and a Smart City partner ecosystem for its CityNext product have had a large effect. The U.S. Smart City market is heating up as more competitors enter with branded offerings. Microsoft is well positioned to take advantage of this market position with its product offerings. Microsoft’s CityNext initiative helps city leaders engage citizens, empower employees, optimize operations, and transform their cities to become safer, healthier, better educated and more sustainable.
