Burr Home in ABQ Damaged in Fire!!!

Bonnie Burr, 70, is a Albuquerque native, mother of 6, and grandmother of 3. She worked for the Albuquerque Public school district teaching children for almost 25 years until she became disabled. In late summer 2016, disaster stuck her family when their home was damaged in an electrical fire. Her second oldest son was injured trying to fight the fire himself waiting for emergency response.
The adobe home was built by hand by Miss Bonnie's late husband down to every brick and beam. It was built with earth friendly, sustainable materials and the family would like to keep his legacy alive by rebuilding with similar environmentally friendly materials. Unfortunately, insurance had lapsed, and the home was also full of family keepsakes and mementos that can never be replaced.
Most of the damage is to the roof which was damaged by both the fire itself as well as the firefighters checking for hotspots in the insulation. Structurally the home is intact, it just needs some serious TLC and your support!
The family had been slowly collecting money to start repairs on the house this spring, but was recently contacted by the fire marshal and informed they have until March 10th to START repairs on the house or potentially risk it becoming condemned. Beyond the immediate concern of putting a new roof on their kitchen and living areas, the family also needs a new front door, windows, and appliances as well as money for an electrician and to turn back on basic utilities.
Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated for this wonderful, local family in their time of need. Time is of the essence, and the Burr family urgently needs our support. It is critical to get some repairs started for the Burr/Wells family home, as far as preventing further damage from the weather and save their house!
