Your secrets. Her lies.

Cassie stares at the woman on her doorstep in disbelief. Just months after losing her only son, Josh, here stands a stranger claiming to be Josh’s girlfriend. But it’s not only the woman Cassie is shocked by, it’s the baby nestled in Kim’s arms. Cassie’s grandchild.

I know what you did.

As Cassie tries to do what’s best for baby Samuel, she starts to receive threatening messages from someone from her past - someone Cassie has been hiding from for a long time. Cassie is frightened that her biggest secret is about to be revealed and she will lose everything, including her precious grandson.

You took everything from me. Now you need to pay.

As the messages get more sinister, Cassie realizes the person behind them knows every detail about her life and she fears that she is being watched. Could Kim be the link between Cassie and the mysterious messenger? And is she in danger now that she has welcomed this woman and her baby into her home?

A truly gripping pause resister that will keep you listening well into the night, The New Girlfriend is for fans of The Girl on the Train, My Lovely Wife, and Gone Girl.

Really Good

Really good story, I liked how it was conveyed. There was enough angst with all the unanswered questions to keep things interesting. Character development was ok but I think it would have created more depth for the story with it. Overall enjoyable listen/read.

Narration was great!

Whoa!! What a ride that was!

Wow! This book had so many twists and turns I was dizzy by the end. The genre of this book didn’t say it was a mystery/thriller, but it was in my humble opinion. And a darned good one!

Well Done! Great characters!

I always admire an author who can make their heroine flawed to the point where the listener shouldn't like her, but does anyway.

We have a grieving mother who's lost her son to a tragic accident, a grieving step father who is trying to cope with his wife's grief and his own, and an unknown girl who shows up at the door claiming to have, in her hands, the baby of the deceased.

While one's head may start to go in several obvious directions (ie, 'She's lying!' 'Get a paternity test!'), Browne puts together a unique twist that surprises the reader.

I would have given 'The New Girlfriend' 5 stars had I not figured out the 'twist' halfway through the book. However, I suppose those of us with devious minds always expect the unexpected, and the worst from people!

Amazing.

This was a great story. Right to the end you will think you have it fogured out...but you do not. Good author...good narrator...could translate to a movie ...but you'll state the hook is better.

Deliciously Deceptive!

Definitely holds your interest. While I was able to to figure out a few of the twist I was never certain. Good read. Worth the credit.

Charged for no crime committed???

The story did not make sense. The heroine at the end of the story was charged for a murder but no murder happened in the entire story. There was an accidental death which she was not involved in in anyway.

And there was a suicide, but they don’t even explain if the suicide was successful. There was the anti-heroine getting clocked over the head and left and assumed dead; but then later on said to still be alive & to have been spotted in other places in Europe..

The anti-heroine; she’s the one who should be charged with an accomplice to murder if the lady who committed suicide died; which it is not even stated whether she survived or died.

The book had potential to be a great book but the ending was not clear; nor was there even 1 happy after effect- instead everyone’s life was ruined. I wish I had not spent the last several hours listening to this audiobook.

Not even one happy character left the book at the end. Every relationship destroyed-and no happiness left… The book wasn’t even redeemable by the characters being likable in the end.

Stunning Straight to the Very End

I am at an almost total loss for words. What a fantastic thrill-ride this story is! It does not go far enough to state that this book is entirely gripping and unexpected with a highly satisfying ending. Beyond that, I am not sure what to say without giving away the story which I will not do. This is simply a must-read for anyone who adores darkly twisted thrillers that are evenly paced and less than predictable. I thoroughly enjoy well crafted stories in which I cannot predict the plot twists and this one more than delivers! Excellent narration made it nearly impossible to stop listening. Utterly remarkable, start to finish!

Original Story!

Finally this genre has an original story!!! Just when you think it’s predictable there’s another layer added that twist what you know about the characters.

Boring

I wish I understood why this book got such high reviews. I just found it completely boring. Kept hanging in and about midway through I just couldn’t take it any longer and gave up.
